Events at Em Dash

One-Time Events

We are proud to offer countless bookish events and activities, from author visits to semi-formal charity balls!

For details about one-time events at Em Dash, check out our social media.

Recurring Events

In addition to one-time events, we offer a number of recurring events, such as Saturday Storytime, Book Clubs, Crafternoon, and more!

Book Clubs

We're proud to host two book clubs a month, Sweet and Spicy

Our Spicy Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month and focuses on romance, with varying levels of "spice." Note: These books are inherently adult in nature and will have varying levels of adult content.

Our Sweet Book Club meets on the third Thursday of the month and focuses on non-romance and general fiction

Crafternoon

On the second Saturday of the month, we offer Crafternoon, a guided craft event led by local artisans who lead us through through the craft of the month, no previous knowledge or experience necessary. Past crafts we've covered are embroidery, journalmaking, bullet journaling, and DIY gifting.

If you prefer not to participate in the craft of the month, you are welcome to bring yourself and your latest craft project and just hang out with fellow crafters!

D&D (Beginners Welcome)

The last Sunday of the month, we're proud to offer D&D with a casual learning and playing atmosphere. Bring a level 3 character or use a pre-generated character provided by the DM. You don't need to know anything ahead of time! Kiddos welcome.

Music Together With Ms. Maria

Every Monday and Wednesday morning at 9:45 and 10:45 a.m., Em Dash is proud to host Music Together With Ms. Maria, a program that has introduced millions of children, parents, and teachers to the powerful benefits of music. Ms. Maria's research-based music classes are designed to be non-formal and non-performance oriented so kids can learn at their own pace in a way that’s developmentally appropriate.

Queer RPG Night

The last Saturday of the month, our local DM spins up adventures with queer themes. We're proud to offer a welcoming table and a newbie friendly atmosphere.

Saturday Storytime

The first Saturday of every month is Saturday Storytime! Join us as we gather around and read kids books, with themes that change from month to month.

Silent Book Club

On the fourth Tuesday of the month, we offer Silent Book Club. SBC members gather in public spaces to read together in quiet camaraderie with no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not!

Writers Support Club

Our Writers Support Club is a very low-key get together of local writers as we talk about the craft of writing and set goals. All abilities and stages are welcome.

At the present time, this group does not offer a critique component.
